Understanding Your Report
The explanation you receive is intended to help clarify the language used in your radiology report. Because this service is educational in nature, we are not able to provide individual medical advice or respond to follow-up medical questions. Please discuss any medical concerns with your healthcare provider.

• Radiology reports in PDF format or pasted text
Patient Information
Breast scan types
- Screening Mammogram - A routine mammogram to check for breast cancer in women with no symptoms
- Diagnostic Mammogram + Ultrasound - Select this if your report includes both a mammogram and an ultrasound performed at the same visit. This is common when a mammogram finds something that needs further evaluation and an ultrasound is done the same day. Both studies will be covered in your explanation - this counts as one report.
- Breast Ultrasound - An ultrasound of the breast only, with no mammogram
- Breast MRI - A magnetic resonance imaging scan of the breast
Diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound performed together for the same concern are generally considered one exam.
